PRJNCT: Challenge 1 Results

11 contestants created garments for singing sensation Björk.
Only one will win the challenge.

And one will be sent home...

Let's get down to business.

The top 2 and bottom 2, in random order, are:

Chlamydia, Bambi DuJour, Malaria, and Avalon

Here is what the judges had to say about these designs.

Chlamydia: The judges loved the colors, calling the color palette 'amazing.' They thought the design fit the theme very well; it not only looks like something Björk would wear, but it's also very avant garde. The work on the dress was called very precise and detailed and judges knew the designer took a long time to create the look. The only complaint the judges had was the moveability; as Björk is known to constantly move around stage, would this huge dress constrict her movements?

Bambi DuJour: Judges picked up on the dark tone of this piece, saying, "this screams gay vampire" and "Its Elvira on a float for gay pride!" They thought the dress was poorly assembled, sloppy, and too tight to the point where Björk probably wouldn't be able to walk around the stage if she wore it in concert. The judges could see where the designer was going with the 'wings' but thought the design wasn't up to par. The material choices were seen as less creative than many of the other contestants. As stated in the design challenge: "When it comes to fashion, Björk is either known as bold and daring, or simply a fashion disaster," and judges thought this look was a fashion disaster that not even Björk could pull off. One judge remarked that not even the worst of drag queens would be caught dead in it.

Malaria: This design garnered many positive reviews, as judges loved the colors, execution, and accessories of the piece. They applauded the designer for their dedication in cutting out all of the hands and constructing an interesting and vibrant outfit. Not only did the design fit the the overall theme of an avant garde dress that Björk would wear, but it also matched the song choice perfectly. Some judges would have liked to have seen more creativity in the materials that were used in this design. And one judge was simply not a fan, saying, "Ur design sucks. Commit suicide."

Avalon: Overall, judges that that this design was simply too plain. It was not only too plain for Björk, but in general. Judges thought the designer didn't have a very good understanding of the "uniqueness" that is Björk. They called the dress unpolished, not very inspired and 'a craft project gone wrong' as it featured felt, pom poms AND feathers. One judge remarked, "Björk wears swans on the runway not Rudolph."

After all the votes were tallied....
the winner of challenge 1 is...

Chlamydia's designer!

Congrats anonymous designer!!

Malaria was also declared safe, leaving Bambi DuJour's designer and Avalon's designer in the bottom 2!

And the designer going this week is....

Avalon's designer, Chris.

When Chris found out he was going home, he sent in a goodbye video.

But just because Chris is out, that doesn't mean he hasn't given up hope of one day wearing Daisy's soft fur.....

The judges are just as creative at offering critiques as they were at designing last season. LOL!

While I am somewhat sad to be gone, I am also relieved. I was in over my head. You are all really great, creative designers! I can't wait to see what designs are put fourth in the next round. Thanks again to Enrico for running this awesome competition.

I'm so sorry to see Chris leave (but would have been sorrier if it had been me). I thought his design was sweet and showed a gentle, quirky sense of humor.

What a sweet video Chris. It was great to hear you too. No big surprises on the winner there, it was pretty clear cut to me. Looking forward to next week's round.
