Inspired by my friend Polt, I've decided to do a "Half Naked Thursday" post!

I hope mine isn't too scandalous for my young, innocent readers!

If you don't know about Half Naked Thursday, I think you're just supposed to reveal a part of your body on Thursday.
You could be risque, or just show your hand, or your neck, or something.

Well anyway, here's my first edition of Half Naked Thursday! Hide the kids!

Mighty Morphin'

The other day, I was searching Craigslist for a house to rent next semester when I came across these sneakers.

Immediately I was flooded with memories of my childhood. I once owned a pair of sneakers quite similar to these! I remembered the days when I would sit in front of the TV, eagerly waiting for Power Rangers to begin and I still had velcro on my sneakers.

But really, the best story about Power Rangers sneakers isn't about me, but my brother Pasquale.

One year, Pasquale and I both got Power Rangers sneakers. At the time, Pasquale was in 1st grade and I was a year younger. So of course we grew out of the sneakers quickly.

The following Christmas, I got new sneakers! I think they were black.

Well, Pasquale got new sneakers too....

Except they weren't so new; they were the same Power Rangers sneakers! Just bigger!

Well by this point, all of the cool kids were over Power Rangers.
Pasquale hid his feet everywhere he went, hoping he would eventually get new sneakers.

Months passed, and his birthday finally came in August.
After rockin' Power Rangers sneakers for so long, he was excited to open a b-day present that looked like a shoebox.... But he could tell something was wrong....

Yup, inside was another pair of the same Power Rangers sneakers, just bigger!

My sisters and I chuckled and my dad probably yelled at us. Pasquale just cried.

Well the best part of this story is that this trend continued for a while; every time Pasquale complained about growing out of his sneakers, my dad would get him a new pair of Power Rangers sneakers! This lasted until he was in 5th grade (!!!) when we moved in with my mom.
She finally had the sensibility to get him different sneakers.

My sister TJ still bothers him about it today since she was one of the lucky ones who fought against my father's poor sense of fashion.
Isn't it great when your parents make you wear embarrassing clothing?

Missing Anne

Last night was kinda sad.

I had class from 5:30 to 8:20 and while it was a great class (I loved the book we were discussing, Faulker's As I Lay Dying) I missed an important TCNJ event.

Ann Coulter came to my school! And I missed it!

For those of you who don't know her, Wikipedia tells us Anne is "an American political commentator, syndicated columnist, and best-selling author.... Known for her controversial and confrontational style, Coulter has described herself as a polemicist who likes to 'stir up the pot' and, unlike 'broadcasters,' does not 'pretend to be impartial or balanced.'"

Basically, she's a liberal-hating conservative who says the craziest things! And so of course, I was dying to see her and see what craziness would spill forth from her lips last night!

Here are some of her past quotes:

""If we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have to worry about another Democrat president. It’s kind of a pipe dream, it’s a personal fantasy of mine, but I don’t think it’s going to happen."

"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.'"

"Liberals become indignant when you question their patriotism, but simultaneously work overtime to give terrorists a cushion for the next attack and laugh at dumb Americans who love their country and hate the enemy."

"Originally, I was the only female with long blonde hair. Now, they all have long blonde hair."

"If we're so cruel to minorities, why do they keep coming here? Why aren't they sneaking across the Mexican border to make their way to the Taliban?"

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

"And why is it 'homophobic' for Senate Republicans to look askance at sex in public bathrooms? Is the Times claiming that sodomy in public bathrooms is the essence of being gay? I thought gays just wanted to get married to one another and settle down in the suburbs so they could visit each other in the hospital."

but on the bright side:

"We (Republicans) just don't think they should get married. Liberals actually hate homosexuals."

And of course she's well-known for this gem:

"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis... These self-obsessed women seemed genuinely unaware that 9/11 was an attack on our nation and acted as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them... I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths so much."

So anyway, I wanted to see her just to see what she would say.

But apparently, she was tame.

She only said a couple of controversial things, like that homosexuals and women don't have the right to claim they're 'victimized' and that only African-Americans do because of slavery.
And she said women are the moral beacon of society but they ruin it by showing their sexuality.

I actually did get there in time to see her. Kind of.

I ran from my class to Kendall Hall where she was speaking and as I walked through the doors she said, "Thank you, have a good night."
So technically I did see her!

150 Degrees In The Shade

I'm sick!!

I started feeling sick around 12ish and it got worse and worse. At 5 I just passed out and slept for an hour.

I have a sore throat, a headache, body aches and my body is SO HOT (hehe).

So since I don't feel good, I guess I'll share a sick story.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One day in kindergarten I was sitting at a long table with the rest of my class, and I was seated at the head of the table (cause I was basically the king of my class). Suddenly, I started feeling sick. So I asked my teacher to go to the bathroom.
And she gave the stereotypical kindergarten teacher response:
So I just threw up all over the table.
Since I was at the head of the table, the vomit spread out and started dripping off the sides of the table. All the kids jumped out of their seats to avoid getting soaked with my vomit!
I haven't vomited today, but I still feel like death.
(That 'vomit' is jump pumpkin seeds btw.)
Alfredo
So last night I went over to Mat with one T's apartment to celebrate Valentine's Day.
He didn't pick me up til 8:30pm, so the night didn't last long, but it was still pretty nice.
But before I went to see Mat, I got my first Valentine's Day gift in the mail.
I got some lovely V-Day gifts including a card, candy and adorable hamster stickers!
Oh, and they were from Saint Michelle of course!
So Mat got me and we went to his apartment. I guess cause it was Valentine's Day he held the door open for me.
First, I watched him clean the dishes.
Then I watched him cook me dinner!
First he got the chicken out. Doesn't it look delicious?
He cut it up
and sprinkled marinade on it....
and put them in the pan to fry.
Meanwhile, the pasta was cooking
and the broccoli was doing whatever broccoli does. Steam?
Then it was all done and I got the finished product.
Which was delicious.
We ate and watched Top Iron Chef. It was the first time I watched the show and it was pretty decent.
We didn't watch a movie or go for a walk on the beach or anything cause I had work at 8am this morning. But it was still a nice night and I got chocolates! Mmm.
Thanks for dinner Mat E>
Big Love
I hope everyone is having a great Valentine's Day!
Whether I'm single or in a relationship, I'm always a fan of Valentine's Day. Even if it was invented by Hallmark or whatever, it's still nice to have a whole day to think about love and companionship.
As for me, I'm currently spending V-Day writing an essay on My Ántonia.
But hopefully I'll be going out later tonight.
And if you are one of those people that hate V-Day, cheer up and watch Titanic! Oh wait.... maybe that's bad advice.
But remember that I love you all!
Happy Valentine's Day!
Honey you've been in my head
Like homework on Sundays when I've been laughing instead,
Like cigarettes for the cool kids behind the garden shed,
And love for lovers
And the elephant by my bed.
Before Valentine's Day, We Celebrate....
So of course tomorrow is one of my favorite holidays, Valentine's Day.
But February 13th is also a day for celebration....
Anyone know what today is?
I'll give you a clue:
Yes, it's Richard Parker's birthday!
Well, technically it's more like our one year anniversary of being together, but it's easier just to say it's his birthday....
As in the tradition amongst my friends, we made posters for Richard Parker and sent him birthday wishes!
At midnight, Richard Parker emerged from our room....
and everyone sang Happy Birthday!
[I love Kristen's (the girl on the right) singing face!]
Of course Katrina got all diva-like on the song.
Then everyone wanted to hold the birthday boy.
And Pregs had to pose of course....
Richard Parker enjoyed all the birthday messages he received.
I love this picture.
So then my protective parent side kicked in and I took Richard Parker back because I was I'm sure he was exhausted from the celebration!
So Happy Birthday Richard Parker! I hope the 'terrible twos' rumor isn't true....
12 of 12 - February
So Mike over at What Some Would Call Lies told me about this 12 of 12 blog idea.
On the 12th of each month, you take 12 photos and post them on your blog. You then link your own entry on this blog so you can share with others. I think it's a cool idea and plan on doing it whenever possible. On this 12th day of February I didn't start til halfway through the day, but here are my 12.
Oh, and this entry is dedicated to Cindy, who told me my blog is "boring" cause there are "too many pictures."
Ross enjoys a chai latte.
Christie looks like a little girl:
Ross and Christie, hands on plastic.
Eric prepares for a racquetball game.
Ross and Christie observe the signs.
Richard Parker gets trapped in a cup:
The toy I found in a hotel in San Felipe sits on my computer.
Preparing to kiss Buddha.
Megan, fresh from the shower.
Christie in a sea of green.
Delisa takes a nap in the bathroom.
Katrina prays the rosary.
That was fun! Looking forward to next month.
