Summer Entertainment Extravaganza

The summer is almost over!!!!!! This summer flew by so quickly and I'm kind of sad it'll be over next month, when I return to school and... have free time again??

Anyway, this excuse for a post will talk about all the things that keep me entertained during these harsh summer months.

Katy Perry

While I wasn't a big fan of Katy at first ("I Kissed A Girl" and "Hot N Cold" were throwaway pop songs in my book), I'm lovin' everything from her new CD. I was wondering how Katy would follow up her huge smash hit "California Gurls," and was delighted to find that I like the 2nd single even better! "Teenage Dream" is AMAZING.

This is a perfect summer song. I think of it like this: "California Gurls" is a song to listen to during the day, throwing a beach ball around on the beach while "Teenage Dream" is a song you listen to at night, cuddling with your imaginary loved one by the pool.
According to my Last.fm, after having the track for two days, it already became my most played track for the last three months...

Florence + The Machine

My favorite band of the year contributed a song to the latest Twilight movie soundtrack (NO! That's not selling out!) and I love it (duh).

Isn't this song perfect for the type of dramatic love story that Twilight is (I think?).

True Blood

The beginning of this season wasn't that good IMO. But then this happened:

I don't watch much TV, but I am excited for the new season of Project Runway (even though Lady Gaga is on it!)

Inception
Even though everyone loves this movie, I didn't want to see it since that brat Ellen Page is in it. But I finally gave in and watched. And it was really good. But I don't see why people are flipping out about the ending. It was good, but pretty predictable.

In other news, Tom Hardy was in this movie.

Jane Austen

I'm finally reading Sense and Sensibility and it's so good! Isn't Jane Austen the best?

Remember followers, it's too hot to be outside!! So stay inside and entertain yourselves, then leave a comment about how you're entertaining yourselves!

One Hour Photo: Take Me Out To The Ball Game

A thousand years ago, I shared a story about an experience I had working in the Rite Aid photo lab. Here's another story!!

So one day, this lady comes in and starts to blah blah blah about how she had so much fun at the Yankees game, and she's so proud of her team, and they they scored so many goals, etc. etc. She hands me a roll of film and tells me to develop the photos from the game.

I started to develop the pictures and they were SO BORING. Basically, she took a bunch of pictures of people running around in the grass and throwing spheres at each other.

When I woke up from my nap, I started to go through the photos to make sure they were all OK. And that's when I found the interesting photos! The interesting set began with a photo of the girl's boyfriend jumping on a bed... naked!

The photos got progressively more inappropriate until eventually, I reached he photos of the couple going to home base...

While naked pictures aren't really surprising to see, there was something strange about these photos; they appeared between photos of the baseball game. I'm pretty sure they didn't see two games, so I think that at some point between the 4th and 10th innings, the lady and her boyfriend decided to go off somewhere and have some fun.

But the best thing of all? The lady must have forgotten about those pictures because she gave her mother the receipt to pick up the photos!

Of course the mother picks up the photos and just has to look at them in the store. I watch her open the envelope, flip through the photos, then suddenly stop.

She stuffed the photos in the envelope and was out!

So remember folks: if you take n00dz, don't let your mom pick them up from the photo lab! She might take a peek.

The Saturday Six

Welcome to The Saturday Six! In this entry, I'll talk about my six favorite things from this past week!

1. Veronica Mars

Since my favorite show ever is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, peepz always tell me that I should watch Veronica Mars, which is (obviously) not quite as brillz as Buffy, but similar to the show in that it features mystery, snappy one-liners, a blonde lead, and boyfriend issues. Last Monday I decided to watch the first episode... which turned into a 12 episode marathon. This show is fantastic!

I finished the first season last night and thought it was amazing. Smart, funny writing, complex and endearing characters (I love Keith Mars the most!), interesting mysteries that continually surprise... Much like a Kelly Osbourne album, this show has it all! I seriously laughed prox a million times, got teary-eyed a few times, and had to pick my jaw up from off the floor (where Solomon was scratching it and hissing at it) a few times. The only bad thing about the show is that I HATE the theme song. Terrible theme song or not, I can't wait to watch the rest of the seasons!

P.S. I feel even more drawn to this show because I graduated from Neptune High School, which is the name of the fictional school V. Mars attends!!

2. "E.T. (Futuristic Lover)"

In what might be the next single from Katy's highly-anticipated second album Teenage Dream, Ms. Perry sings says about her alien BF. Throughout the course of the song, she says she wants to be stunned with lasers and to be walk on her lover's wavelength and be there when he vibrates. LOVE IT.

3. Chocolate Dirt Ice Cream

You know how when you get ice cream cake, you force your self to eat the vanilla and chocolate ice cream when all you really want are the delicious crunchies in the middle of the cake?!

Well, this radio station I listen to on the way home from work decided to start selling ice cream called Chocolate Dirt, which is chocolate ice cream with the crunchies inside! Unfortunately for most of you, this ice cream is sold exclusively in these locations.

4. Clearance Sales!

I LOVE CHEAP/FREE THINGS. This week, I went to Target to buy the cheapest shirt possible because I was staying with a friend for the week and packed one shirt too few. So I went to the clearance section (duh) and bought this red plaid shirt...

FOR $4!!!! YAY! (And I know it's hot outside, but the shirt isn't thick and my office is freezing anyway.)

5. Jesus Camp

I FINALLY watched Jesus Camp this week and it was hilarious. Here's my favorite girl in the movie. Her name is Tory and she is so0o0o0o0o0o smart because she doesn't "dance of the flesh" and she doesn't believe in guys or girls!

“My favorite kind of music is like, Christian heavy metal, rock ‘n’ roll. It focuses and the basis is towards Jesus. And some of the songs don’t actually say like, ‘Jesus’ or ‘our lord’ or, and stuff like that. But they do have a Christian basis and it is focused towards him. So that’s why I like Christian. And, but, really, Britney Spears and like, Lindsay Lohan and some people like that, I could definitely care less about them. Because their main, their songs are mainly based on either like, guys or girls and we as Christians, I do not, well I, do not believe in that.”

6. Taco Dinners

Well, I actually haven't made tacos for dinner yet... But I'm heading over to Josh's right now to make some! MMMM.

El Cuatro de Julio

Happy 4th of July!!!.......

I figured that since other blogs and sites are wishing people a Happy 4th of July and reminding them of what a great country we live in or whatever, I'd do something a little different.

First, I'd like to share with you this SPECTACULAR performance of The National Anthem, by "pop sensation" Kat DeLuna. (I highly advise you watch the whole thing, but if you are lazy, skip to 1:45 and listen 'til the end.)

Are the last few seconds not the funniest thing ever? I LOLed for a few minutes on that one.

And I'd also like to share a line from Angels in America, which I finally watched recently.

"The white cracker who wrote the National Anthem knew what he was doing. He set the word free to a note so high nobody could reach it."

Nobody but Kat DeLuna, obviously.

Happy 4th y'all!
