So everyone knows that Mariah Carey loves moving her hands while she sings. Lots of people have commented on it and imitated it and it's sort of become a staple in Mariah's performances.
If you don't know what I mean, just watch this performance of "We Belong Together" at the Grammy Awards.
(She does it extra hard when she screams the last chorus, around 1:15)
See. She does it and it's great.
Well today, on my way home from work, the classic Mariah tune "Always Be My Baby" came on the radio.
Of course I left it on and starting singing along.
Then I realized that I was totally moving my hand in a Mariah fashion.
So now, I can't make fun of her for doing it. It seems Mariah songs just lead to crazy hand movements.

I can relate -- I can't help but get a snarly look on my face when I'm singing to a Billy Idol song. :-)
haha. I guess I'll only be able to relate fully to the gays on this one. Not many straight men sing Mariah in their cars with hand motions and all.
I finally watched the YouTube bid -- you're right, that's nothing like the Billy Idol snarl. :-) So do you switch hands on the steering wheel back and forth like she does with the microphone? ;-)
Oh man, I have NOT been switching hands, but that is an amazing idea. I steer with my right hand so I leave the divaness to my left hand. But I'll have to start switching (reading this comment out of context might sound funny. haha).
That would make a great t-shirt:
"I leave the divaness to my left hand"
:-D
